„Rational and AI-assisted development of lipid nanoparticle formulations for RNA delivery beyond the liver“, Prof. Dr. Olivia Merkel, Department Pharmazie, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München

Delivery is the major hurdle thwarting the therapeutic potential of RNA medicines. While all siRNA drugs on the market target the liver, the lung offers a variety of currently undruggable targets which could be treated with RNA therapeutics. Hence, nebulizable and biocompatible nanocarriers for pulmonary administration of RNA nanoparticles could finally enable delivery beyond the liver. This lecture will highlight recent developments in the area of rational and artificial intelligence-assisted design of inhalable and biocompatible LNP formulations for efficient RNA delivery to the lungs with the aim of meeting the medical need of efficient RNA delivery beyond the liver.
